All the news I wish to print

There are all kinds of stories out there. Some will make you laugh, some will make you cry. Some will make you shrug, some will make you scream. Read any daily paper or listen to any newscast and your emotions can go from happy to sad to disbelief to fear to incredulity to horror to anger in very short order.
As we go along, there will be stories, as Paul Harvey used to say, to "wash your ears out with." There will be others that will make you feel like you need to be deloused simply by virtue of having heard or read them. Some posts will be religious, some secular and for some I expect will defy easy classification in either category. I hope you will join me in this journey and please feel free to comment along the way.
For my part I pledge not to remove any posts unless they are vulgar, libelous, threatening or otherwise in violation of the standards of civil discussion. I will not remove any post simply because I disagree with it but I will reserve the right to respond to any challenges that come my way.
God bless you and welcome to my blog.

New York's shame

This abomination will one day be recognized for what it is. The ony question is how much damage will be done to society in general and the institution of marriage in particular in the meantime.

Nanny State News

In these tight budgetary times, police departments everywhere are stretched to the limit as they try to cope with the criminal element in our society. Fortunately the police in Midway, GA will not let these difficulties slow them down as they patrol the streets taking down such hardened criminals as these two purveyors of that dangerous substance that has claimed so many lives, young and old, known as illegal lemonade. I don't know about you but I think these officers deserve a medal for keeping the world safe from such dangerous sociopaths. What would the nanny-state be without such dedicated professionals.

Thomas More Law Center Enters Oklahoma Mosque Controversy

Amazing isn't it? Imagine the uproar if it was suggested that Tulsa school children have a moment of silence at the beginning of the day during which any who chose to do so of their own free will might silently pray. Actually we do not have to imagine since ACLU has already successfully challenged such practices wherever they have been proposed. So how come the deafening silence from them and their ilk on this situation?

The Mental Stimulus Plan

Maybe this will work.It makes as much sense as the financial stimulus, anyway.
The Mental Stimulus Plan

Trial by accusation

It is certainly understandable that the Church would act with great haste to remove anyone from active ministry who has been accused of sexual impropriety. It may not seem entirely fair in light of the possibility-indeed the probability in our hyper-litigious society-that such an accusation may be totally unfounded, unsubstantiated and without merit, it is still preferable to game of musical parishes that was being played with truly abusive and pedophile priests in the not so distant past. What is truly a scandal today, however, is that accusation has become tantamount to conviction and suspension has become just a euphemism for permanent exile.
As tragic as Father Corapi's situation is perhaps the very public nature of this process and the refusal of Father Corapi to simply fade away into obscurity may serve as the impetus to at least begin to address the cases of those priests consigned to a living limbo based in accusations that may or may not be grounded in fact.
Father Corapi's response to the "fact finding" committee's press release that was made public yesterday can be found here.

It's been a while

Haven't had a chance to post much in recent months, not for lack of material. But what prompts me back to this keyboard is the sad case of Fr. John Corapi. Like so many who are familiar with his work and his teaching, I was inclined to disbelieve the accusations against him, to dismiss them as the rantings of some one who endured a real or imagined slight at the hands of the Church and was now looking for payback. It is still what I would like to believe but a committee appointed by his order has come to some damning conclusions. You can read about them here.
For Father Corapi's comments on the accusations you can check out his blog here.
More tomorrow.
